  10.   No, this program has nothing to do

  12. with your personal hygiene, unless you
  13.  
  14. consider losing your temper a health
  15.  
  16. hazard -- that it may prevent.
  17.  
  18.   This program will 'software' write-
  19.  
  20. protect a disk. It will protect any
  21.  
  22. disk from being written to, just like
  23.  
  24. the write-protect tab does, without
  25.  
  26. using the tab. It, in no way, effects
  27.  
  28. the abilty of the disk to be read as
  29.  
  30. normal.
  31.  
  32.   The only way to permit writing to a
  33.  
  34. disk again, once protected with 'WRITE
  35.  
  36. GUARD', is to re-format the disk, or
  37.  
  38. use 'WRITE GUARD' to UN-GUARD it.
  39.  
  40. Obviously, unless you wish to lose all
  41.  
  42. the data on the disk, the second of
  43.  
  44. these two choices is the most logical.
  45.  
  46.   When a disk is GUARDED with this
  47.  
  48. program, the '2A' in the disk's
  49.  
  50. directory is replaced with 'WG',
  51.  
  52. indicating the disk is WRITE GUARDED.
  53.  
  54. When the disk is UN-GUARDED with this
  55.  
  56. program, the '2A' is replaced as
  57.  
  58. normal.  This change in the directory
  59.  
  60. header is cosmetic only and has no
  61.  
  62. effect on the normal operation of the
  63.  
  64. disk. It is simply an easy way to
  65.  
  66. ascertain that the disk has been
  67.  
  68. 'WRITE GUARDED'.

  74.    COMMERCIALLY COPY PROTECTED DISK.

  77.   Most copy protection schemes modify
  78.  
  79. the disk BAM in one way or another. As
  80.  
  81. this program changes three bytes in
  82.  
  83. the BAM also, it could render the copy
  84.  
  85. protected disk un-usable.
  86.  
  87.   It has no such adverse effect on
  88.  
  89. any other disk. If you have any
  90.  
  91. doubts, make a copy of the disk, and
  92.  
  93. then use WRITE GUARD on it to be sure.
